June 8, 2020 –

Midland GIS Solutions was recently awarded a contract with the City of St. Joseph, Missouri for GIS data layer development to support area emergency service agencies. The NG 911 data layers will be utilized by four area law enforcement agencies – St. Joseph Police, St Joseph Fire Department, Buchanan County Sheriff and Buchanan County EMS.

Midland GIS has provided GIS mapping services to the City of St. Joseph since 2007, including GIS for utilities, zoning, parks and recreation, road and bridge and the city’s Metropolitan Planning Organization. Midland GIS also developed a GIS for Buchanan County complete with data layers for parcel information, planning & zoning, road & bridge, cemeteries, historic places registry and voting precincts. This addition will incorporate layers with NG 911 data, including the following:

  • Standardized Road Centerline
  • Emergency Service Boundary Data
  • Master Street Address Guide
  • Address Point Data with field-verification

Once created, these data layers will be uploaded into the GIS. Midland GIS will set up the data in a manner to work seamlessly with a third-party Computer-Aided Dispatch software utilized by the agencies. All four agencies will have the capability of proximity dispatch information to streamline emergency response when 911 calls come in. The data will be centralized on a secure multi-user GIS platform accessible from any device. This web-based GIS further supports the inter-agency services to Buchanan County and St. Joseph residents.
