Midland GIS Solutions recently finished the GIS Updated project for the City of North Kansas City, Missouri.  North Kansas City awarded their Aerial Imagery and GIS Update project to the Midland GIS Solutions’ team based on qualifications for work to be completed in 2019.  Midland GIS partnered on the project with Surdex, a premier nationwide aerial mapping firm headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Midland GIS has had a long‐standing professional relationship with Surdex since 1999 and have served many times as prime and sub‐contractors to each other on projects across Missouri and the Midwest region.

North Kansas City is a community of approximately 4,500 and is located in the heart of the Kansas City Metro.  The city has utilized a robust in-house GIS program for many years and has great GIS personnel resources to support the efforts of the city.  Outsourcing this project allowed for the internal team to keep up with maintenance and expand the projects and support provided to various departments, especially the water utility.

The Midland GIS/Surdex team provided North Kansas City with new accurate digital aerial photography data and an updated Digital Terrain Model(DTM).   With much growth and change over the last five years, North Kansas City additionally contracted Midland GIS to provide accurate survey-grade GPS field updates on the water distribution features including hydrants and valves.

“We were excited to partner on this project with Surdex. Routinely, we work together to produce data and imagery for our clients and we both share high standards for delivering accuracy to every client. This project will benefit North Kansas City staff moving forward, having updated and accurate data to work from. This will allow staff to make more informed decisions in the future.” -Kirk Larson, Senior Vice President
