Ethan Herbek, GISP presented at the Missouri Geographic Information Council Workshop in Carthage, Missouri on November 1st. A day-long work shop put on by the Missouri Geography Information Systems Advisory Council(MGISAC), Ethan was one of many speakers who presented to the group on GIS and Asset Management. This session covered the considerations developing and maintaining data standards and working with technologies among local government groups. The workshop also included presentations by professionals from county and municipal organizations, emergency management personnel, and consultants from GIS technology firms.
According to the Council’s website, MGISACE objectives include, “direction and oversight to the MSDIS(Missouri Spatial Data Information Services), developing and publishing standards, representing the state at national meetings and events, hosting an annual statewide GIS conference, coordinating database development, and providing a forum for the states GIS community.”
Ethan Herbek is the Municipal Project Manager at Midland GIS Solutions. He has been with the company since 2004 and holds a B.S. in Geography and GIS from Northwest Missouri State University. Additionally, Ethan is certified in NASSCO MACP/PACP/LACP and as a GISP (Geographic Information Systems Professional). He has managed GIS development for cities, public utilities, and counties as well as NASA, Army Corp of Engineers, Nebraska National Guard, and the Department of Transportation.
