The city of Marshall, Illinois utilizes Integrity™ web-based GIS hosted by Midland GIS to view, edit and maintain their municipal GIS data. This western Illinois community of 3,800 had also maintained a separate asset management application to track activities and report on the utilities Marshall operates.
After implementing the web-based GIS program, Marshall staff begin to recognize that managing their separate GIS and Asset Management programs was overwhelming and not efficient for staff. In order to better accommodate the city’s workflow, Marshall chose to hire Midland GIS to custom built the preferred asset management tools into the Integrity™ web-based GIS.
Midland GIS professional programming staff built custom reports and tools within the Geocortex® interface for Integrity™. This enabled staff to utilize one system, rather than two to accomplish the same tasks. The city was able to utilize one program, through Midland GIS for GIS and Asset Management, saving the city thousands per year on having two systems.
The city manages Telecom, Gas, Electric, Sanitary Sewer, Storm Water, Street and Water. The combined GIS and Asset Management program allow for a centralized system of tracking, reporting and analyzing the staff’s efforts. Manhole Inpections, One-Call Records, Gravity Main Jetting, Hydrant Flows, Valve Exercising, Water Main Breaks, Street Closures and Pavement and Sidewalk maintenance are just a few of the many items the city can track historically in their system.
