The City of Chanute, Kansas has selected Midland GIS Solutions to expand and complete their utility GIS program. Known as the “Jewell of Southeast Kansas,” this progressive community of 9,000 owns and operates the city sewer, water, storm, electric, gas and telecommunications systems for its citizens.
Chanute has had GIS and utility data for many years, but as the town has expanded and grown, the need for more accurate and centralized data that could be used by all staff became more crucial to the goals and mission the community follows.
“Over the last several years, we have provided training, support and web-based GIS implementation to Chanute. Their staff cares so much for the community and they take great pride in serving the public. Midland GIS is proud to work with them as they take the next step in implementing a full scale accurate system that will benefit the community infinitely into the future,” – Erin Allen, Director of Business Development, Midland GIS Solutions.
The team at Midland GIS Solutions will be updating the current GIS data and adding new utility layers. This will include accurate GPS field work, inventory and attribute collection, as well as GIS mapping for the sewer, water, electric, gas and fiber systems.
Midland GIS Solutions has designed, implemented and supported more accurate, easy to use GIS programs in the state of Kansas than all other firms combined.
