Midland GIS Solutions, with its headquarters in Maryville, MO has been contracted to provide professional GIS mapping services to the City. The scope of services for this comprehensive municipal GIS project include geodatabase design, integration of aerial photography and Nodaway County GIS data, establishment of a geodetic control network, GPS locations of sanitary sewer and waterline networks and installation and training. This City-Wide project will require extensive research of the Citys utility record drawings and historical utility maps, as well as accurate GPS data collection and attribution of sewer and waterline features (manholes, valves, hydrants, etc.) Project completion is scheduled for May 2009.

Midland GIS Solutions has contracted with the City of St. Joseph, MO to move forward with Phase II of the Citys combination sewer GIS/GPS mapping project. This phase of the project requires the use of RTK survey grade GPS equipment to locate and complete detailed inspections of nearly 6,000 manholes in the northern two-thirds of the City. When the project is completed, all collected data will be mapped into the Citys GIS program and uploaded to the Citys Web GIS site.

Midland GIS Solutions has been chosen to receive the Missouri Association of Counties prestigious 2008 Business/Government Partnership Award. This award has been given in recognition of Midlands continued interest in increasing the efficiency of Missouri county government operations in the area of GIS mapping and for being a long-time financial supporter of annual conference events for the association. This award will be presented to Midland GIS Solutions on Monday evening, November 24th during the MAC Annual Awards Banquet, held in conjunction with the 37th Annual Conference at Tan-Tar-A. Midland GIS Solutions will also be hosting a hospitality suite at the MAC Annual Conference on Sunday, November 23rd in rooms 690 and 691 at Tan-Tar-A Resort.

John Teale, P.L.S., President of Midland GIS Solutions, presented a program on Property Boundary Surveys and How They Relate to Assessors at the 2008 Missouri State Assessors Conference held September 1-4, 2008. This presentation included the history and methods of the original government surveys (GLO) and the critical representation of those lines in county mapping programs. The presentation also included the effects of riparian rights and how they can affect local, county and state boundary locations.

Midland GIS Solutions is proud to announce that Operations Manager, Kirk Larson, will join John Teale, P.L.S., Troy Hayes, P.L.S. and Matt Sorensen, Vice President as a Principal Owner of the Company. Kirk has over 13 years of GIS and management experience. He oversees the daily operations of Midland GIS Solutions and has served as Project Manager for numerous municipal, county and utility GIS mapping programs. Kirk and his wife Jennifer live in Maryville. They have two children.

John Teale, President of Midland GIS Solutions and Chair of the Missouri Society of Professional Land Surveyors GIS Committee (pictured on the left), participated in a panel discussion at the Missouri Mappers Association Annual Conference in Lake Ozark, MO. This panel discussion focused on Missouris cadastral mapping standards and the push for new statewide mapping standards to encompass GIS development. Tim Haithcoat, Missouris Geographic Information Officer (pictured on the right), was also a participant in the panel discussion.

Midland GIS Solutions was an exhibitor and proud supporter of the 2008 National Association of Counties (NACo) Conference in Jackson County, Missouri. The exhibition hall and conference sessions were held at the Kansas City Convention Center. During the conference Midland GIS Solutions sponsored a hospitality event for the Missouri State Assessors Association, the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and the Kansas City chapter of the IAAO, hosted by the Jackson County Assessment Department and the Missouri Assessors Association.

Midland GIS Solutions hosted their Annual GIS Users Conference in Maryville, Missouri on June 25-26, 2008.
We had a great turnout and provided our clients with a unique opportunity for hands-on GIS training, said Midland Vice President, Matt Sorensen.
Along with beginner and intermediate/advanced GIS courses, the Users Conference also included a day of educational sessions and a Luau-themed social event at Midlands newly remodeled business and production facilities. All GIS conference sessions and GIS training were held on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.

Midland GIS Solutions has contracted with the City of St. Joseph, MO to GPS field locate and inspect over 8,700 sanitary sewer manholes and GPS locate the Citys combined sewer overflows (CSOs) along the Missouri River. Upon completing the GPS field collection, Midland GIS Solutions will map the sanitary sewer and combination sewer data into the Citys GIS program and upload it the Citys Web GIS site. www.stjosephmogis.com

Midland GIS Solutions was recently awarded the Iowa County, Iowa GIS contract. Midland GIS Solutions will be developing a comprehensive GIS mapping system for Iowa County that includes converting the County's old plat style tax maps to a GIS format and Web GIS. The County's existing maps consist of pencil sketches on engineering grid paper. This will launch Iowa County from the 19th century to the 21st century. Iowa County is geographically located in East Central Iowa within the corridor of Iowa City and Cedar Rapids metro areas. This area is composed of high production agricultural land as well as the tourism in the unincorporated villages of the Amana Colonies. This growing county plans on implementing a GIS program to assist with managing over 19,424 parcels of land and aid in decision making processes.
