Midland GIS Solutions Announces New President, Company Ownership

Troy Hayes, PLS has recently been appointed President of Midland GIS Solutions, a leading provider of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. Troy has been an active leader and owner of the Company since it was formed in 2001. He served as Midland GIS Solutions’ Vice President from 2001 to 2012, and in his new position as President, Troy will manage and oversee all phases of corporate management, business development and project coordination.

Troy’s tenure with Midland GIS Solutions and affiliate company, Midland Surveying, Inc., goes back to 1979 when he began his career with Midland Engineering, a company headquartered in Maryville, MO that specialized in providing land surveying, mapping and engineering services. In 2001, Troy and Company President, John Teale, made the difficult decision to sell the engineering division in order to expand on the land surveying and mapping services they provided. Midland Surveying, Inc. was founded as a result of that refocus of services. That same year, the two long time business partners decided to expand the Company’s services even further and developed a business that would specialize in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Midland GIS Solutions was formed with John Teale as President and Troy as Vice President.

Troy served as Vice President of Midland Surveying, Inc. from 1989-2005 and became President of the Company in 2005, a position in which he still serves. With more than 34 years of land surveying and mapping experience, Troy’s knowledge and understanding about applying geospatial and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to everything from land records management to GIS data management is extensive.

In addition to serving as President of both Midland GIS Solutions and Midland Surveying, Mr. Hayes is the Vice President of Nodaway County Abstract and Title Company. He is a Professional Licensed Surveyor in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and South Dakota and is the current Missouri Governor of the National Society of Professional Surveyors. He is the current Surveyor for Nodaway County, MO. Troy lives in Maryville with his wife, Merv. They have three children.

Although the leadership structure of Midland GIS Solutions has changed since the company was founded in 2001, all of the Company owners and shareholders remain dedicated to developing cutting-edge GIS technology and continue to develop reliable and cost-effective data management solutions for our valued clients.
